What a great day at the lake we all had yesterday! The wind was up, but racing was postponed due a storm cell that was rapidly approaching. We sat under the pavilion until almost noon when the rains abated. At that point winds were very light and sporadic. A couple of boats were launched and went out for cruising, but returned an hour due to lack of winds. No racing.
On shore folks were having a great time. Lots of kids were swimming and a few even tried taking out small sailboats. Preparations for the cookout began early and by 3:00 we were enjoying one of the best meals we have had in a good while. Hamburgers, hotdogs, Frank’s ribs, Jonathon’s beef brisket, and a variety of sides and desserts supplied by club members. About 32 people enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere, socialization, and good food. We rapped up the activities around 5:00 after hearing rumbling in the distance and most were on their way home when the storm of the century hit.
I would like to thank all unsolicited club-members who helped with the activities, but especially the kitchen committee made up of Matt Woods, Dan Conniff, Burl Murphy. But I would like to especially thank Burl’s partner Carol who did a great job setting up, shucking corn, cooking burgers, and cleaning up, all performed only 3 weeks since her total him replacement surgery. A good example of club teamwork. Thanks gang, you did a great job and it was appreciated by all.
