September was a great month for the club. We had club racing with the Anniversary dinner following the race. The club members went to Lake Lanier and Nashville for Catalina 22 races. I will let Keith share the results in his report, unless he is too modest. The Dixie Sailing Club was well represented and my appreciation goes out to the members that gave their time and expertise to the races. Chris gave the club a touch up and he has the weed killer and will spray the boat yard. The county graded the road coming to the club. This helped a little. We still need gray rock put down and we will continue to encourage the county to do so. The Childers’ van broke down and was parked at the club for a few days. All is well now. The water has started to go down and the lake is at 487 feet.
The Youth Program is ready to be presented to the Board Saturday. Please read the bylaws and be prepared to discuss and vote on the board members for the new program.
Dave and Stephanie Hilgendorf came last Saturday to our sail and pot luck. Two boats sailed and 15 enjoy in the meal; Ed and his daughter, Ricky, Scott, the Childers’ family, Dan and son, the Hilgendorfs, Sherry and Roger shared the meal together. It was good day for sailing with 9 – 11 mph winds with no rain.
We have an opportunity to remind the members of the dog leash policy. When members are present, at the club, all dogs need to be on a leash. A member was knocked down and hard feelings were expressed. I believe this is growing pains and with a little concern for each other we will work through this moment in time.
The Auburn sailing club will be at the club Saturday to meet with us. They have a desire to return to the club.
We have the Club Championship race coming in November followed by the Annual Meeting. The Christmas Party is close behind.
The “Doings” will need to come out the first of Nov. to prepare for the “Annual Meeting”. Thank you to the nominating committees: 1. John Barnett, Dick Cline, Ron Dettwiler, 2. Jim Garner, Scott Roberts, Allen Kennedy. Both committees will have their nominees soon.
Warm regards, Roger
