About Us
The Dixie Sailing Club is a private club on Lake Martin that promotes all aspects of sailing. Membership varies from 60-80 and consists of families who share a common interest in cruising and racing sailboats. We have three one-design fleets that race each weekend during the year: Catalina 22, Flying Scot and MC Scow. We are the home of Catalina 22 Fleet 96 with 22 boats, Flying Scot Fleet 85 with 10 boats, and MC Scow Fleet 39 with 10 boats. Our Catalina sailors include two past national commodores, a previous Gold Fleet National Champion racer, and a few others who have placed high in regional and national regattas.
DSC maintains a yearly schedule of club races, special races such as long distance races, regattas, cruising activities, and special events. The racing program provides a means for sailors to sharpen their sailing skills, enjoy a competitive environment while sailing and to build camaraderie between club members.
There is an overall Handicap Fleet based on the Portsmouth Yardstick as well as individual fleets currently consisting of Catalina 22, Flying Scot and MC Scow. Our cruising activities are open to all boats and include both day cruises as well as overnight cruises.
We have club races every weekend normally on Saturdays from March until November. Just about every weekend we have some activity for members, and a few "open" events to which the lake community is enthusiastically invited.
